The National Youth Commission (NYC) and DILG Region 10 identified Capitol University as a service provider of the mandatory training for elected SangguniangKabataan officials this coming May 2018. An orientation-workshop for the service providers was simultaneously given in 19-21 February to higher education institutions representatives in Manila for Luzon and another one in Cebu City for Visayas and Mindanao.

The mandatory training is a requirement of the amended Republic Act 10742 for the elected SKs before they could assume office. The training will provide SKs with basic knowledge on the roles, responsibilities, and ethical guidelines of an elected official, and skills in managing and presiding meetings. Follow-up trainings are likely to happen in 2018 with the SK officials, specifically on aspects of development and investment planning. CU will further discuss the SK program as a member of the Regional Management Team of Region 10.
