The College of Arts and Sciences Hosted a Lecture-Forum on “The Importance of Regional Film-Making in Promoting the Contemporary Society

            Last February 20, 2019, in celebration with the National Arts Month, the College of Arts and Sciences through the Social and Behavioral Sciences in partnership with the, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Council of Deans of Arts and Sciences – Arts and Sciences Association Region X (CDAS-ASEA Region X), the Department of Tourism Region X, Mindanao Creative Writers Group, Inc., and C&E Publishing Inc held a lecture-forum on “The Importance of Regional Film-Making in Promoting the Contemporary Society”at the University Multi-Purpose Hall.

             The resource speakers during the lecture-forum were literature to film expert Dr. Christine Godinez-Ortega, president of the Mindanao Creative Writers Group, film directors ElvertBanares and Lemuel Lorca. The activity was witnessed by Capitol University Senior High School Students from the GAS and HUMSS strand as well as select tertiary students.

             Further on February 21, 2019, to culminate the celebration of the National Arts Month, the Social and Behavioral Sciences gave special awards in Best Short-Film in Rizal; Best Infomercial in The Contemporary World; and Best Infomercial in Readings in Philippine History which were outcomes-based output of the CU students in their respective GEC subjects.

             Prior to the lecture forum, on February 19, the resource speakers were gracefully welcomed through a courtesy call at the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Amor Q. de Torres as well as meeting with Atty. CasimiroB. Juarez, Jr. University President and Dr. Fe R. Juarez, Executive Vice President of this University and were given a tour at the University’s Museum of Three Cultures.
