Capitol University has entered a partnership with Growth with Equity for Mindanao (GEM) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the externally generated instructional intervention called Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP). CU implemented the JEEP Start pilot testing stage in 2009 to 2010. The program encourages the use of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) through task-based instruction provided by the  JEEP Accelerate pilot testing stage in 2010-2011.. Because of the efficacy, creativity and productivity of the JEEP as globally competitive teaching learning environments, both the JEEP Start and Accelerate are being sustained to date with the support and cooperation of the Deans of the different colleges, the administration, and related key offices.

Training for the Teaching Methodologies with CALL: JA and JS took place last May 24 to 28, 2011. The Planning Session of the said training and on the sustainability plans of the CU JEEP took place  on April 26, 2011. Both activities were participated in by the faculty of the EHD with Ms. Deborah Moulton (JEEP Manager, GEM) and Ms. Sigrid Talampas (Monitoring Specialist, GEM) who came to Capitol University at separate times for the said events.

Moreover, Capitol University Job Enabling English Proficiency has been visited by VIPs from Fr. Urious University of Butuan City, CARAGA; Mindanao University;  Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology of Digos Davao del Sur, Jose Rizal Memorial College of Dapitan City, Zamboanga del No More importantly, the CU JEEP project was examined and explored by USAID Contractor, Dr. Raymond Morton and GEM Chief of Party, Ross Wherry last July 15, 2011. Morton expressed that the USAID would participate in the development of the research on the CU JEEP. Wherry’s feedback regarding the CU JEEP has been positive. Further, Deborah Moulton, the JEEP Manager of GEM has immersed herself in the JEEP Accelerate as Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Moulton has complied part of her practice teaching and observation from August 22 to 26, 2011 under the Supervision of CU JEEP Coordinator Prof. Cecille W. Bicbic and assistance of CUE JEEP Accelerate Lead Teacher, Prof. Kristine B. Jalog and EHD Chair, Prof. Geldolin L. Inte. Finally, Prof. Bicbic will be joined by Prof. Geldolin L. Inte as invited Speakers/Facilitators in the JEEP Accelerate Training slated on October 23 to 28, 2011 in Cagayan de Oro City for Block 4 and 2 GEM partners.
